The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with an understanding of how social and medical advances have led to improvement in public health.
Learners will be provided with an understanding of how, at an individual level, lifestyle choices and behaviours can have a positive and negative effect on health. They will be able to use this understanding to identify changes to their own lifestyle in order to improve their health.
This qualification is appropriate for everyone and particularly applicable:
- In the workplace setting as an introduction to health awareness
- In the health and social care sector, including for those preparing for careers in these sectors
- As a foundation for those in support roles to professionals in education, public service and corporate settings
- As part of health and lifestyle education for young people, through schools and colleges, and for those starting out in independent living
Youth Health Champions
The Youth Health Movement and Youth Health Champion programme stem from our new qualification targeted at school students aged 14-18. It’s goal is to enable young people to act as ‘health advisors’ to their peers.
